The Campaign to Change Direction

As a founding member of the campaign to Change Direction, the American Psychiatric Association Foundation is one of the collaborators of concerned citizens, nonprofit leaders, and leaders from the private sector who have come together to create a new story in America about mental health, mental illness, and wellness.

This collective effort, led by Give an Hour - an organization the Foundation has previously partnered with to improve military mental health - is hoping to change the way America addresses mental health issues. With one in every four or five people across the country having a diagnosable mental health condition, the campaign to Change Direction encourages citizens to "know the five signs".

1. Personality Change          4. Poor Self-Care
2. Agitation                           5. Hopelessness
3. Withdrawal
